Community Benefits from Christmas Cracker Events
The purchase of a much needed defibrillator for the community, to be located at the Elizabeth Hall, received a massive boost recently thanks to a generous donation from Bernice Wall who visited the Elizabeth Hall to hand over a cheque for £835. £715.07 came from Christmas Cracker and it was topped up by a personal donation from John and Bernice Wall of £119.93 so there was enough money to buy the actual defibrillator.
The new defibrillator at the Elizabeth Hall will complement the existing ones at Hook Community Centre and in Hook Village Centre. The equipment will be installed as soon as the money for the casing and installation has been raised.
HVH are launching a grand raffle soon which will culminate at their stand at the Hook Village Show on Sunday 7th July. All proceeds from the raffle will be put towards the reminder of the funds needed for installing the defibrillator. The raffle tickets, at £1 a time, will have super prizes like a 4-ball golf round, paella cooked for a party, garden design advice, mobile phone and other high end prizes. If you are able to offer any prizes for this fundraiser please contact the HVH team.
Hook Books – 18th April 2-4pm
With getting on for 2,000 books to choose from, there is plenty of adult paperback fiction and children’s books at Hook Books at the Elizabeth Hall, Raven Road, Hook. Come along, choose your books and linger whilst you enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with a piece of homemade cake.
Life was made much easier for our splendid army of volunteers with the arrival of trolleys for the crates and the completion of 4 smart wooden mobile bookcases last month. Hook Books is now versatile and moveable so it can be set up in any of the halls that are not booked out on the day.
