Good News Time for the Whole Community
Hook’s new defibrillator has been installed and has gone live at The Elizabeth Hall. The defibrillator, funded by all of you through proceeds raised at the Christmas Cracker, Echo Hotel Music Club, HVH Summer Raffle, Hook Parish Council and topped up by Bernice and John Wall has been installed free of charge and will be maintained by James & Phillipa Watson.
Santa’s Tea Parties
If you have not yet had a chance to book children in for tea with Santa, either on Monday 9th or Wednesday 11th December from 4-5pm, there might still be some spare places. So, if you want to secure your place at this popular gathering in Hook Community Centre to meet the special gentleman in a red suit you might be lucky to get a last minute space. Tickets are just £6.50 per child for tea, a story with Santa and a present.
Valentine’s Ceilidh
Our 2020 Valentine’s Ceilidh on Saturday 15th February at the Elizabeth Hall will feature the top-notch country dance band ‘Between the Acts’ who will be bring the evening alive with their foot tapping live music.
Tickets are already selling, so make a note of the date now and book yours, because we know the evening, if it’s anything like last year, will be a sell-out! Tickets are just £25 to include a two-course meal and there will be a cash bar.
Half Term Fun
Whatever the weather next February half term, Hook Village Halls have entertainment lined-up for free Half Term Fun on Wednesday 19th February, 11am to 4pm in Hook Community Centre.
Mill Cottage Farm will be bring their animals, Special Branch will help you to willow weave, plus there will be Guide Dogs, Hart Rangers, Wildlife Trust and other super stands to explore. For those visitors who love to see Safari Pete, he will once again be in the upstairs hall with his exotic animals. We make a nominal charge of £2.50 for these popular limited place special talks. We will also be holding our special Stars in Their Eyes competitions for pet guinea pigs and rabbits. Pick up an entry form at the halls.

More Entertainment on the Horizon
On Saturday 28th March the Quiz Night returns to the Community Centre plus we have booked a welcome return for a Laughterhouse comedy evening on Saturday 26th September at the Elizabeth Hall.
Don’t forget to put the date in your diary for Hook Village Flower & Produce Show on Sunday 13th September in Hook Community Centre. Why not plan to enter your produce, plants, crafts and culinary feats – it’s such fun.

Hook Books
Don’t forget that Hook Books’ pop-up community library is on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Elizabeth Hall between 2-4pm, as well as its ‘top up’ service in Tesco. Please keep those fiction paperbacks and children’s books coming into the Elizabeth Hall for Hook Books as they are key to its continuing success.
Not only are children’s books available in the pop-up library but there is a special bookcase of children’s books in The Elizabeth Hall foyer. We have plans to put one in Hook Community Centre too. Hook Books is also supporting the ‘Find A Book’ initiative for children. Look for special bags with children’s books in them around the village.
With nearly 2,000 books to choose from at monthly event, it is also a popular social gathering with scrumptious homemade cakes and teas/coffees to be enjoyed. So, make sure the monthly Hook Books dates are in your diary and come and join us.

Hook Village Halls has regular events, classes and meetings to suit every age and taste, making them the hub of our community. In addition to hall hire, the HVH charity also hosts its own fantastic activities to ensure everyone has a chance to make use of the halls.
